Your support of voice research, education and outreach programs will protect and restore the voices of tomorrow.
Everyone deserves a voice.
Voice is the foundation of normal human communication. Your voice is an integral part of who you are and how you are perceived. Our voices allow us to connect with others, from our loved ones to our co-workers and our communities. Unfortunately, many millions of people of all ages suffer from the devastating personal and social-economic consequences related to voice loss caused by disease or trauma.
The Voice Health Institute (VHI) was established by patients who suffered voice loss in 2003 to advance improvements in the treatment of human voice and airway conditions. We have strived to accomplish these efforts by supporting medical-surgical breakthroughs and educational programs that have preserved or restored thousands of voices through funding the groundbreaking innovations of Dr. Steven Zeitels and Dr. Robert Hillman, along with their interdisciplinary team of researchers and clinicians at the MGH Voice Center. VHI also funds Fellowships in Laryngeal Surgery with Dr. Zeitels ensuring more surgeons can be trained in state-of-the-art methods for treating voice and airway problems and ultimately improving access to better care throughout the country and abroad.
VHI support has helped Dr. Zeitels and his team design new breakthrough procedures that are restoring patients’ airway and voice function, even if they have been living with a tracheotomy (breathing tube in the neck).
Charitable funds have recently supported the research and development of an incredible next-generation blue-light laser, which will be used in minimally-invasive endoscopic treatment of both benign and malignant problems in the office and the operating room.
With the amazing support of donors like you, VHI hopes to continue funding the critical advances that have already helped thousands of patients suffering from voice loss as well as other laryngeal and airway disorders. Thank you for joining us!
